Engineering Apprenticeship Level 3 at Isle of Wight College
This course is for anyone seeking employment in the field of Mechanical, Aerospace or Marine Engineering. The course includes both theory and practical skills which are put into practice in the workplace. The Advanced Apprenticeship requires more academic work than the Intermediate to be completed alongside assessments which will require a higher level of competency and evidence.
The Advanced Apprenticeship is usually undertaken by learners who have had some industry experience or who have previously completed the Intermediate Apprenticeship or Level 2 NVQ qualification.
The Advanced Apprenticeship Framework in Engineering will give you the skills and knowledge that you will need to build a career within Mechanical, Aerospace or Marine Engineering.
The Advanced Apprenticeship Framework includes the following:
- Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations
- Level 2 Functional Skills in Numeracy and Literacy and IT
- ERR (Employment Rights and Responsibilities)
- PLTS (Personal Learning and Thinking Skills)
C and above in Maths and English or equivalent or ability to gain Level 2 Functional Skills.
You will attend The Isle of Wight College on a day release one day per week for the underpinning knowledge and some practical input. You will also be reviewed and assessed approx every 4-6 weeks in the workplace by a member of our team.
Once you complete this qualification you may be able to progress into full time employment.
Many employers will tend to keep their Apprentices on after they complete their Apprenticeship but permanent employment is not guaranteed after learners complete their apprenticeship.
