Applied Science BTEC Subsidiary Diploma/Diploma at Smith's Wood Sports College

Course description

The Level 3 Btec in Applied Science will incorporate content from all 3 subjects in science.

The course covers units from all three science disciplines within the mandatory units, whilst allowing for a more specialist route when choosing from the optional units. You will have the opportunity to acquire technical and employability skills, as well as knowledge and understanding of science.

Course content

The course is an excellent opportunity to develop level 3 science skills across the disciplines of Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

This course will involve the study of these Core Units:

Fundamentals of Science

Working in the science industry

Scientific practical techniques

Additional units will be added to complete the course

Entry requirements

English Language GCSE A*-C, Maths GCSE A*-C. Science GCSE A*- C/BTEC Science at Merit/Distinction level is preferred.

Assessment

To achieve the Subsidiary award you must achieve 60 credits. This consists of 3 mandatory units (30 credits) plus optional units that make up the remaining 30 credits.

To achieve the Diploma you must achieve 120 credits
