Music Technology Rockschool level 3 (single award) at The Thomas Aveling School
The arts in general, and Music in particular, attract international prestige to Britain. They are a major export earner and a significant economic sector in their own right. With the ever-increasing economic and social links occurring in Europe and further afield, it is imperative that students are given a thorough grounding in the understanding and application of Music. Every student at Thomas Aveling is given the opportunity to study an instrument of their choice, we currently offer voice, flute, piano, saxophone, clarinet, guitar, trumpet, bass and drums.
Students who choose to study Music at KS5 work towards completing the RSL Music Technology course, which directly relates to university courses in commercial music and Music Technology. Whilst studying the course, students learn through use of our industry-standard recording studio and use of computer software packages as well as listening skills through popular music and music theory.
A minimum of 5 GCSE (or equivalent) passes at grade A* - C, including GCSE or level 2 vocational qualification in Music. Candidates able to offer evidence of other related skills, will be considered subject to interview with the course leader. Students will need to have formal instrumental tuition and be able to demonstrate elementary score reading skills.
