D&T Graphic Products - GCSE at Bonus Pastor Catholic College
Design and Technology (D&T) is all around us whether it’s solving a problem or designing the latest gadget. In Design and Technology students are encouraged to think differently, be creative and innovative and to question whether a design or product really works. Throughout the course you will be taught to consider how a wide range of products are designed together with an understanding of the processes involved in their manufacture. You will Produce, Design and Make assignments that will relate to real life situations including existing products, artefacts and systems. Projects tend to vary and the final coursework project gives students choices for areas of focus. There is a greater emphasis on industrial practice, current processes, environment and sustainability. Students must apply the use of computer aided design and manufacture (CAD/CAM). Industrial practises, social, moral, environmental and sustainability issues are a consideration when taking on the role of a designer. CAD and CAM are compulsory elements for GCSE to achieve the higher grades.
With further training, you could go into a job related to Design and Technology and Electronics such as an Technician, Electrician or Design Engineer.
