Hardware Engineering - Level 3 at Middlesbrough College
This course is aimed at students with a desire to improve their skills in the technical and networking aspects of computing. The course includes gaining practical networking and technical skills that could be used whilst dealing face to face with customers or implementing solutions in the field.
U1 - Comms & Employability (M) U2 - Computer Systems (M) U7 - Organisational System Security U10 - Communication Technologies U11 - Systems Analysis & Design U12 - IT Tech Support U13 - IT Troubleshooting & Repair U25 - Maintaining Computer Systems U29 - Installing & Upgrading Software A second year optional year can include the following units: U3 - Information Systems (M) U4 - Impact of the Use of IT on Business Systems U9 - Computer Networks U17 - Project Planning with IT U19 - Computer Systems Architecture U24 - Controlling Systems Using IT U23 Networked Systems Security Units may vary
Four GCSE’s graded A - C including English and Maths. Alternatively a Level 2 BTEC in a Computer Science discipline with a MERIT grade and Level 2 in English & Maths (or equivalent). "If you do not have a Grade A to C in English and/or Maths, you will be required to continue studying these subjects as part of your Study Programme."
A portfolio of assessed work will be produced via set assignments and practical work.
