Uniform Public Services BTEC Level 3 Diploma at Brooklands College

Course description

This course will follow on from the Subsidiary giving learners an insight into varied aspects of the Emergency Services and the Armed Forces helping with further development of essential skills needed in these environments.

Who is the course suitable for?
Those looking to progress to a career within the Uniformed sectors. Students must be willing to participate in physical activity, as this is a requirement to achieve certain components of the course.

Course content

• Police powers
• Employment in the Public Service
• Human Rights
• War and Conflict
• Fitness Testing and Training for the Uniformed Public Services
• Land Navigation by Map and Compass
• Current and Media Affairs in Public Services
• Communications & Technology in Public Services

Entry requirements

This course can only be accessed by students who successfully complete the Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Uniform Public Services at a Merit and any GCSE/FS qualifications. Target grade, attendance, behaviour etc. during the first year will also be considered.


You will be assessed continuously, through coursework and physical activity all evidenced in an individual portfolio.

Financial information

There is an initial contribution to be paid at the start of the course for uniform and induction.  You would also be expected to make a contribution if you intended to take part in other trip opportunities like Boot Camp and expeditions.  More details on costs will be provided during the application stages.   

Students are allocated a certain amount of free printing, after which a small fee will be incurred.

Future opportunities

You can consider a career in the Uniformed Public Service sectors or managerial work. Alternatively, you can be considered for progression to the Higher National Diploma.  This is subject to achieving a Merit at Level 3 Diploma and your overall performance throughout the year (attendance, attitude etc.).
