Drama and Theatre Studies A Level at The Sweyne Park School
Drama reflects and even drives our cultural evolution. It has the power to enrich lives, challenge thinking, and can touch our deepest emotions. In performing, actors have a creative space to explore their interpretation of human nature. Drama has a prominent role in contributing to modern living through television, the internet, cinema and radio as well as theatre.
As the Drama and theatre studies course unfolds, students will alternate between the roles of playwright, performer, designer and director. This involves applying knowledge of different theatre forms and structures. A key aim is to enable students to operate more autonomously and with confidence within a drama and theatre context. Within the course students will study a variety of theatrical texts in depth, develop performance skills, and create an original piece of theatre.
