Sociology A2 level at North Lindsey College

Course description

This course is delivered in two parts - the AS course in year one, and the A2 course in year two, leading to to the full A level qualification at the end of year two.

Learners study socialisation, culture and identity to gain knowledge and understanding of central aspects of sociological thoughts and methods. At A2 learners are able to develop their understanding through studying social differentiation, power and stratification.

Course content

Unit 3: Power & Control (Crime and Deviance/Education/Media/Power & Politics)

Unit 4: Exploring social inequality and difference.

Entry requirements

You will need a minimum of 5 GCSEs and Grades A*-C including Mathematics and English.


The course is 100% Externally assessed by means of two 1.5 hour exam papers.

Future opportunities

You can progress to higher education or employment in a wide range of occupations. All Advanced Qualifications, AS, A2 earn UCAS points which contribute towards university entry requirements.

The majority of learners who achieve this qualification progress to university.
