Engineering Level 3 Diploma at Carlisle College
The course is the accepted full-time route to engineering qualifications at Technician level in industry. Successful students will meet the entry requirements and into higher education for HNC at Level 4 and thereafter HND at Level 5. The course is aimed at students requiring a thorough education at Level 3 in practical engineering skills and theoretical engineering knowledge. The first year of study leads to the new 90 Credit Diploma that is fully respected as a L3 engineering qualification in its own right. Successful students are then invited to attend the second year that leads to an additional 90 Credit top-up to the full Extended Diploma in Engineering (formerly the National Diploma in Engineering).

You need to be at least 16, with 3 GCSE at grades A* to C in Maths, English and Science/Physics or a merit/distinction in the Level 2 Diploma in Engineering or other qualifications in a relevant subject area, or exceptionally with relevant industrial experience and specific agreement with the course tutor.
Practical and written assignments and tests are used to assess learning throughout the academic year.
The 90 Credit Diploma qualifies you for entry to the Extended Diploma in Engineering. However, the 90 Credit Diplomas considerably improves employability options and students completing this route will be well placed for progression into apprenticeships in a wide range of technical/engineering areas. The Extended Diploma leads to the Higher National Certificate and thereafter the Higher National Diploma and other Higher Education routes including degrees.
