Music at St Aidan's and St John Fisher's Associated Sixth Form

Course description

This specification will provide candidates with the knowledge and experience required for all forms of further and higher education. It will give them understanding, and encourage appreciation, of all music genres in all contexts. The Areas of Study are chosen for their interest to all candidates and with much scope to use music technology.

This course enables candidates to choose a path best suited to their needs. This could be within the music industry, academic study or for interest. It will give them a life-long enjoyment and understanding of music as a listener or performer, at any level.

Unit 1: Written Examination: Influences on Music/Developing Musical Understanding
Unit 2: Composing: Creating Musical Ideas
Unit 3: Performing: Interpreting Musical Ideas

A2 Units

Unit 4: Written Examination: Music in Context
Unit 5: Composing: Developing Musical Ideas
Unit 6: Performing: A Musical Performance

Entry requirements

GCSE Music AND instrumental or vocal study to at least Grade 5

5 GCSEs A*-C Grade
