Beauty Therapy - Massage Level 3 at Lowestoft College
This course is for anyone wishing to follow a career in the health and beauty industry. It will equip you with the skills and qualifications to work in a variety of organisations.
Areas covered include:
- Monitor procedures to safely control work operations
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of promotional activities
- Provide stone therapy treatments
- Provide facial electrical treatments
- Provide body massage treatments
- Carry out massage using pre-blended aromatherapy oils
- Provide Indian head massage
- Provide self-tanning services
You will need to have successfully completed your Level 2 Beauty Therapy course (or equivalent). Your entry level will be assessed based on previous experience, initial aptitude test results and from discussing your goals and aspirations. You will need a reference from your tutor or employer and should take pride in your appearance, enjoy communicating with people, have enthusiasm, dedication and a mature attitude.
Your personal tutor will discuss your progress with you at regular tutorials. Practical assessments will be observed by an assessor and you will be expected to build a professional portfolio of evidence consisting of written assignments and workpacks. Most units will require exams to be completed.
Having achieved the Level 3 you may wish to progress into employment within the Beauty industry (in salons, spas, self-eployment, the retail industry or wedding services) or seek further advanced training to specialise in make-up techniques (TV, theatrical, photographic), sports therapy, reflexology, remedial massage techniques and aromatherapy.
Past students have gone in various different directions; the beauty industry as a career path is very diverse. We have a make-up artist working for the BBC, salon owners, salon chain owners, mobile therapists, cruise ship therapists, lecturers, people working in spas abroad and the list goes on…..
