English Language at The Frances Bardsley School for Girls

Course description

Through the investigation of a variety of sources you will develop your ability to see how language works. The course will also enhance your awareness of many different issues relating to contemporary and historical uses of the language. This covers a wide area, ranging from the language of the media to English as it is used throughout the world. A significant part of the course is devoted to producing original work.

Entry requirements

Pathway 1: For 4 AS Levels & General Studies ? 6 or more A*-C at GCSE with at least a grade B in the 4 subjects chosen to study. Pathway 2: For 3 AS Levels & General Studies ? 6 A*-C at GCSE with at least a grade B in the 3 subjects chosen to study

Future opportunities

You could take this course with other advanced level courses or equivalent to prepare for higher education in English Language or more general higher education courses. With further training, you could go into a job related to English Language such as a Teacher, Journalist, or Editor. The course will also help you develop the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking.
