Trees and Timber Level 2 Apprenticeship at Bridgwater College
This course is ideal for those who are already working in the arboriculture industry or those looking to enter employment within the industry. You will require an employer where you will work 5 days a week.The course has a strong practical focus supported by key theoretical aspects. If you have an interest in trees, woodlands or timber production then this course is ideal for gaining a craft level qualification.
Within the course you will cover many the following modules, depending on the nature of work your employer is undertaking:
- Chainsaw maintenance,
- Climb trees and perform aerial rescue
- Pruning operations
- Use a chainsaw from rope and harness
- Process arisings from tree work operations
- Arboriculture ground worker
- Maintaining safe working sites
- Cross cutting and stacking timber using chainsaws
- Felling and processing trees
- Health and safety in the work place
- Tree identification
- Pollution control
Modules are delivered through on site practical tree work.
You will need to successfully pass an initial assessment of your Maths and English. You will also need an employer who is willing to offer you a paid placement (or already be in employment).

On successful completion of your course you may apply for the Level 3 Diploma in Arboriculture.
100% of our apprentices have secured full time work with their existing employer. On completion, your course together with additional NPTC Certificates provides excellent opportunity to work abroad. We currently have past students working in Italy, New Zealand, Australia, USA, Canada and Sweden and Germany.
