Sport & Fitness 90 Credit Diploma Level 3 at Kingston Maurward College

Course description

Ideal for the sport enthusiast who is keen to participate in a variety of sports whilst studying coaching and fitness at a higher level.

This qualification is designed to develop your understanding of health, fitness, coaching and sports development. You will learn about the body in sport, exercise and fitness and preparing for working in the industry, as well as developing occupational skills such as teamwork, effective communication and problem solving.

You will gain the skills and expertise to pursue a career in sport and exercise science, coaching, fitness or development. This course provides an appropriate background for those who want to progress to courses in Higher Education. This course forms the first year of the two year Level 3 Extended Diploma. Successfully completing the 90 Credit Diploma will allow you to fast track directly into the second year of the Level 3 Extended Diploma and complete a higher qualification.

  • Entry in the British colleges' football leagues as well as a wide range of fitness opportunities
  • Professional football coaching and developmental fitness training
  • Functional skills/English and maths GCSE
  • First aid qualification

  • Gym and fitness instructing qualification
  • Level 2 Sports Coaching qualification

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs at grades A*-C, including English and maths OR Level 2 Diploma at Merit level plus functional skills at Level 2 You will be required to complete a work placement.

Financial information

Courses leading to a qualification are FREE for British citizens, aged under 19 years on 31 August in the academic year you start your course.* However, there may be some additional costs for clothing/kit and trips depending on your course.  You can apply to the Bursary Fund for extra help towards the cost of transport, food, equipment or childcare.

Materials required:

A full kit list will be provided before the start of the course. Suitable outdoor clothing - the clothing must be suitable for environment, climate and time of year. Appropriate footwear. KMC polo shirt.
