Plastering - Apprenticeship in Plastering - NVQ Level 2 at Calderdale College

Course description

The Apprenticeship in Plastering is for those learners who are interested in making plastering a career. The majority of the training will be done in the workplace. The types of employers will range from small family run businesses to larger enterprises. Level 2 learners will work under close supervision at work and will be initially involved in learning the basics of building.

Course content

Some of the units that you will complete are: Produce Plastering Finishes for Existing Projects, Endorsements, Internal, Conserve Solid Plastered Surfaces, Endorsements, Internal Plasterwork and/ or External Plasterwork, Install Fibrous Plaster on Existing Projects (Health & Safety Test Required) There are 6 units in total, some of the above are mandatory units and others are optional. More information will be available at enrolment. You will be regularly visited on site by a College assessor who will assist you in gathering the needed evidence to prove competence.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs or equivalent.  All applicants will be interviewed and assessed for suitability by a Training Officer. Applicants will be expected to be in relevant employment with the support of an employer who can offer work that supports NVQ completion; however, those without an employer will be given job seeking assistance by the Training Officer.

Assessment

Assessment takes place in the college workshops and out on site by a qualified assessor.

Future opportunities

On completion of your Apprenticeship you can progress on to the Advanced Apprenticeship programme before moving in to the Construction industry.  Employment opportunities include self-employment as well as working for small and large companies.
