Sociology A Level at Longfield Academy

Course description

Students will have the opportunity to acquire knowledge and a critical understanding of contemporary society. This course would suit students who wish to examine the world in which we live in today and how it is changing.

 

Course content

Students will study Family, Crime, Deviance, Beliefs in Society and Sociological methods over 2 years.

Entry requirements

Overall requirement for Post 16:

5 A* - C at GCSE (English and mathematics grade 4). Max 2 BTECs at merit can count. 

Subject specific requirements:

B in history, geography or RE OR 5 in English (language or literature)

 

 

Assessment

Assessment Methods: 3 written papers, each 2 hours.

 

 

Future opportunities

Sociology is recognised by universities as an academic A Level. With Sociology you will be able to pursue careers in law, civil service and journalism.
