Sport Subsidiary Diploma Level 3 at Bradford College
This is a new course, launched for September 2013, for elite sports people who wish to combine a high level of coaching, competition and personal progression in their chosen sport along with an education in the area of sport and sports coaching.
To be accepted, you should have already participated in your chosen sport to a high level and demonstrate the desire to progress further through dedicated application to skills development, fitness and education.
The course will work in partnership with a variety of professional clubs and national governing bodies to fulfil its aim of developing sporting excellence in outstanding education for its learners.
The course will use the two year BTEC level 3 Diploma in Sport and the NVQ in Sport as its educational element. This covers a wide range of sports coaching, sports development, fitness, anatomy and physiology in its content. This course is recognised as the gold standard of vocational education in sport.
The course will use the College`s Sports Academies and their coaching structure to develop you as an athlete in your chosen sport giving you the opportunity play sport at a very high standard.
The College`s Sports Academies include: Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Boxing, Cricket, Disability Sports and Men`s & Women`s Football.
A minimum of five GCSEs at Grade C or above, (or equivalent in at least three different subjects) including English or Mathematics and, preferably, PE.
BTEC Level 2 or equivalent Level 2 Award at Merit or above.
You will be subject to a series of trials and selection in your chosen sport in April and May.
You will be accepted onto the course by invitation only.
Mature students will be considered based on employment experience and references.
