Course description

The BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma offers greater flexibility and a choice of emphasis throughout the optional units. It is equivalent to one GCE A Level.

You will be provided with an all-round introduction to the travel and tourism sector for those who wish to further their careers in one of its many connected industries, including retail, travel, visitor attractions, accommodation, transport and tour operations.

Entry requirements

Minimum of English 4


Each unit of study will consist of a number of individual assignments which are graded as Pass, Merit or Distinction. On completion of these assignments you will achieve an overall grade for that particular unit. You will achieve a Pass, Merit or Distinction overall in the BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Travel & Tourism.

Future opportunities

Student can progress to Degrees, Higher Education Diplomas or National Vocational Qualifications (NVQ). Students may choose to enter a travel related career, such as working for an airline or tour company, or use their skills on the business side to pursue qualifications in management in the hospitality sectors. Many skills are useful in taking further qualifications in business related subjects.
