Course description

The VTCT Level 1 Diploma in Vocational Studies - Hospitality and Catering (QCF) is a qualification that has been designed to help prepare you for employment and a career in the hospitality industry.

This qualification provides an introduction to the basic skills needed to prepare for employment in the hospitality.

Entry requirements

3 GCSEs at A*-G (or new grade 9-1)


You will be required to compile a portfolio of evidence that can include observations, assignments, practical tests, written tests, oral questions, witness statements and case studies.

Financial information

Tuition and certification are free if you are aged 16-18 years old. Related additional costs may include materials, equipment, visits, residential etc. which are payable by all students.

Any student entered/registered with an Awarding Body who has been given free entry and then withdraws or is withdrawn by a tutor will incur the certification fee associated with the course. Any re-sit examination will incur a cost.

Different fees apply to international students. 

There will be an approximate cost of £140 for equipment and uniform. This equipment and uniform can then be used if learners progress to our L2 and 3 programmes.
