Course description

**DISTANCE LEARNING COURSE**

 

If you want to learn French at an advanced level, our home study A level course will enable you to develop your ability to read, speak and understand the language. Knowledge of a second language is an attractive asset to any employer, and having a comprehension of French will make you eligible for a variety of roles that aren’t available to non-French-speakers. Learning French to an advanced level also carries obvious benefits for anyone who makes trips to France or conducts business with French-speakers. This A level will not only improve your knowledge of the language, but also of the culture and history of countries in which French is spoken. 

 

You should allow for between 250 and 300 hours' study time, plus additional time for completing assignments. You will have tutor support for a period of up to 18 months from the date of enrolment.

Entry requirements

GCSE French at grade B or equivalent is advisable for this course.

Assessment

This course follows specifications H075 (AS) and H475 (A2) from the awarding organisation OCR. Full details of the specifications can be obtained from OCR's website.

Four exams: 2hrs45m (35% of marks), 2hrs30m (35% of marks), 15m (oral, 15% of marks) and 15m (oral, 15% of marks)

Seven AS assignments, seven A2 assignments
No coursework

For enrolments in the UK there are no additional postage and packing charges. For enrolments outside of the UK the following postage and packing charges apply:

 

  • EU – £75 for the first course and £40 for second and subsequent courses
  • Rest of the world – £130 for the first course and £70 for second and subsequent courses
