Level 2 Diploma in Plumbing Skills at Bournville College

Course description

The course is intended for those that want to gain basic skills and knowledge in order to gain entry into the plumbing and building services engineering industry. This qualification replaces the existing 6129 Level 2 Certificate in Plumbing Studies (technical certificate).

Course content

Health and Safety in building services engineering
Electrical principles and processes for building services engineering
Scientific principles for domestic industrial and commercial plumbing
Common plumbing processes
Cold water systems
Domestic hot water systems
Drainage systems
Sanitation
Central heating systems
Understand how to communicate with others within building services engineering

Entry requirements

3 GCSEs at Grade A*-C in English and maths, an interview will assess your suitability and interest in the subject.

Assessment

The assessments consist of on-line tests to be completed and passed at the end of each unit. There will also be a practical task manual to be completed in the workshop throughout the year.

Future opportunities

You can progress onto the Level 3 Diploma in Plumbing Studies.
