Laboratory Skills Cambridge Technical Level 3 at Chadwell Heath Academy

Course description

Equivalent in size to two A Levels. 720 Guided Learning Hours.

Cambridge Technicals have been designed in collaboration with experts spanning the breadth of the sector, this qualification focuses on the skills, knowledge and understanding that today’s universities and employers demand. Practical Skills are at the heart of both the projects and written exams and all are based around real life applications of practical science.

Course content

Internally assessed units would require:
- Seven Pieces of Coursework over the 2 year course.
- Involve practical work and independent research to access top grades.
- All work is presented as written evidence in a portfolio.

Three External Examinations which will be taken at different points through the course: 1) Science Fundamentals
2) Laboratory Techniques
3) Scientific Analysis and Reporting


Examination: 42%
Coursework: 58%
Note: All modules must be passed for a grade to be awarded.

Future opportunities

University- Cambridge Nationals are equivalent to the traditional A Level route in UCAS points for courses like nursing, midwifery and physiotherapy. Work- Laboratory work in hospitals, schools and industry. Scientific research assistants.
