Sport Diploma Level 1 at Gloucestershire College

Course description

This course gives you the opportunity to learn about the basics of working in the sports industry.

Prepare yourself for an active career in a range of sectors including sport leadership, armed forces, police, fire service, fitness or as a paramedic by enrolling yourself onto the Level 1 Sport and Public Service course.  Get ready to get physical.

This course will put your fitness levels to the test, and at the same time you’ll learn all about physical fitness, adventurous outdoor activities, safety factors relating to exercise, map reading and navigation, training programmes, and teamwork.

This is a great introductory course that will give you plenty of options and allow you to pursue your dream career.

As part of your studies, you’ll get the chance to improve on your functional skills. Functional skills are a range of skills that help you succeed in education, employment, lifelong learning and personal development.

Functional skills qualifications are in English and Maths and are an integral part of your learning experience. It will help you to develop skills in problem solving, teamwork, and delivery of presentations.

Entry requirements

You will need to have 3 GCSE's at grade E including English or Entry 3 in English & Maths Functional Skills along with a successful interview and initial assessment outcome.

Financial information

When you are required to undertake sporting activities, you’ll need to wear the correct sports kit and footwear. During the year, the tutors will organise trips and activities that are relevant to your course. There is a charge for these trips and activities and you will be expected to pay when you enrol for the course. Full details can be given by the tutor.

Future opportunities

Upon completion, you may move on to the Level 2 course in sport, public service, outdoor activities or a relevant apprenticeship.
