Course description

The BTEC Level 3 Diploma has been designed for students aged 16 or over who wish to explore the Health and Social sector.
 

Course content

8 Mandatory Units (representing 80 credits in value) as follows: Unit 1: Developing Effective Communication in Health & Social care Unit 2: Equality, Diversity and Rights in Health & Social Care Unit 3: Health, Safety and Security in Health & Social Care Unit 4: Development Through the Life Stages Unit 5: Anatomy and Physiology for Health & Social Care Unit 6: Personal and Professional Development in Health & Social Care Unit 7: Sociological Perspectives for Health & Social Care Unit 8: Psychological Perspectives for Health & Social Care Plus additional units totally 40 credits which are selected based on the interests of the group.
 

Assessment

The course Is 100% internal assessment.
 

Future opportunities

The course would help as a first step into various careers, such as Health Visitors, Midwives, Nurses, Doctors, Speech and Language Therapists, Social Workers and Family Support Workers. In addition, students are given the opportunity to develop transferable skills including analytical writing, the ability to synthesise knowledge and personal organisational skills, which would equally prepare them for further study within higher education
