Sport BTEC Diploma (Level 3) at Havering Sixth Form College

Course description

The Diploma is equivalent to 2 A-Levels and it consists of 13 units. You must study an additional AS/A2 with this course.

The course is designed to help students build the skills needed to lead fitness and sports sessions and to provide a good foundation for further studies in this exciting and dynamic industry.

Course content

You can expect to:

  • Study the body in action
  • Learn about health and safety in sport
  • Study sports nutrition
  • Learn about training and fitness for sport
  • Take part in presentations, role plays, organising events and a residential visit
  • Complete written assignments

As part of the course you will be given the opportunity to study your CSLA and Level 2 - Gym instructor’s course, administered by Central YMCA Qualifications (CYQ).

Entry requirements

Five Grade Cs at GCSE including English.

Exam Board - Edexcel

100% Coursework.

Optional Cost

£60 - There are day visits throughout the year costing approx. £60. We are running a residential to New York, where we will look at the different sports and venues & the business associated with them, taking in a game or two. Approx. cost £750.

Future opportunities

These courses provide opportunities to progress to Higher Education such as HND or degree programmes or to follow pathways into employment within many areas of the sports industry, such as personal training, sports coaching, sports development officers, leisure centre management and so on.
