Site Carpentry Level 3 Diploma at Isle of Wight College
- For those wishing to raise their basic skill level in literacy and numeracy to progress onto trade level construction courses.
- For those who wish to test their aspirations for working within the construction industry. This course will introduce you to a range of construction trades.
English and Maths, based upon the principles needed in the construction industry.
Continuation of site carpentry as a high level. The range of tasks covered are:
- Double doors
- Stairs with a turn
- Traditional cut roofing
- Curve skirting
The qualification is accessible to everyone who wishes to continue their personal development in English and Maths and has a record of continual self achievement. We are looking for a positive attitude and a willingness to work hard towards self improvement in these areas. (Employers in the construction industry are expressing the need for higher levels of literacy and numeracy skills).
You will learn in a friendly supportive environment to build your confidence and ability in basic number, communication and hand skills.
Essential Equipment required:
- Safety footwear incorporating steel toecaps (£30.00 approx.)
- Bib and brace (overalls as protective clothing) (£25.00 approx.)

This course on completion can lead to other Foundation courses in Construction in to a sole trade area at Level 1 or onto a Level 2 Maintenance Operations qualification.
