Biology at Magnus Church of England Academy
The main aims of this course are to develop essential knowledge and understanding of the concepts of biology as well as achieving an understanding of scientific methods. By learning to become aware of advances in technology relevant to Biology, students are able to recognise the value and responsible use of Biology in society.
An important feature of the course is the emphasis that is placed upon individual practical work done by students. Some practical investigations are assessed as part of the course and 20% of the final marks are allocated for these assessments
Pupils are required to have achieved grade C or above in core and additional science or triple science GCSE’s to take this course. Entrance via a BTEC may be accepted in exceptional circumstances.
