Dental Nurses are the first, most important and last point of contact for those seeking any kind of dental treatment. They are the main interface between the dentist and the patient. Dental Nurses support dentists and the other people who look after your teeth – covering varied duties such as sterilising instruments to reassuring nervous patients, maintaining appointments and managing paperwork.
The Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing will equip you with the essential skills necessary for different types of work in hospitals, dental surgeries, private clinics or cosmetic surgeons’ surgeries. The course covers tasks performed by a dental nurse or assistant and will help develop a professional working style, safe working practices, awareness of the work environment and communicating effectively with colleagues and customers.

You will cover areas such as:
- Reducing health and safety risks
- Providing basic life support

- Providing chair-side support during the extraction of teeth and minor oral surgery
You will be assessed using a combination of assignments, online tests, oral questioning, a portfolio of evidence and by practical demonstration and observation of your on-the-job activities. You will attend classes for a few hours one day a week, and spend a minimum of 30 hours per week at work.
Employment prospects are very good – dental nurses are always in demand.
Acquiring the Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing is the first step in what could be an exciting career within dentistry. Per current rules, a MIMINUM qualification, such as the Level 3 Diploma is a mandatory requirement to work in a Dental Surgery as a Dental Nurse and for registration with the General Dental Council (GDC) which will enable you to practice as a fully-qualified dental nurse.
