Media Studies A Level at St Philomena's Catholic High School for Girls

Course description

Students will develop a critical understanding of the media through the exploration of media concepts and through the creative application of practical skills. They will explore production, technologies and contexts and skills.

Entry requirements

Grade C GCSE Media Studies if taken

Maths (C grade or above) and English (C grade or above) are not required

Assessment

AS Units

  • Unit 1: G321: Foundation Portfolio in Media
  • Unit 2: G322: Key Media Concepts (TV Drama)

A2 Units

G324: Advanced Portfolio in Media

G325: Critical Perspectives

Future opportunities

Media Studies provides a solid foundation for continuing Media, Film, TV Production and Journalism at University. Skills developed while studying Media are transferable to careers in an extensive range of Media/Social Media industries.
