Course content

1080 Guided learning hours = 3 A Levels Eight mandatory units providing 480 guided learning hours (80 credits): 1 Developing Effective Communication in Health and Social Care 2 Equality, Diversity and Rights in Health and Social Care 3 Health, Safety and Security in Health and Social Care 4 Development Through the Life Stages 5 Anatomy and Physiology for Health and Social Care 6 Personal and Professional Development in Health and Social Care* (100 hour work experience) 7 Sociological Perspectives for Health and Social Care 8 Psychological Perspectives for Health and Social Care Plus optional units that provide for a further 600 guided learning hours (100 credits). Chosen from: 9 Values and Planning in Social Care 10 Caring for Children and Young People 11 Safeguarding Adults and Promoting Independence 12 Public Health 14 Physiological Disorders 20 Promoting Health Education 21 Nutrition for Health and Social Care 44 Vocational Experience for Health and Social Care (100 hours work experience) 45 Independent Learning in Health and Social Care

Entry requirements

BTEC Health and Social Care (Level 2 pass and above) or GCSE Health and Social Care (Grade C and above) are desirable but not essential GCSE English Language Grade C or above

Portfolio. Options Units chosen may be: 5, 10, 15 or 20, credits.

Further information

This course is delivered at Shenley Academy. Modular approach. Different learning styles including group work, seminars, visits. Compulsory 100 hours work experience for unit 6 and additional 100 hours of work experience for unit 44 (200 hours in total).
