National Extended Certificate in Information Technology at Oasis Academy Isle of Sheppey
The 60-credit BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma extends the specialist work-related focus of the BTEC Level 3 Certificate and covers the key knowledge and practical skills required in the appropriate vocational sector. The BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma offers greater flexibility and a choice of emphasis through the optional units. It is broadly equivalent to one GCE A Level.
Learners must complete Unit 1,2 plus an additional 4 units Compulsory: Unit 1: - Communication and Employability skills for IT Unit 2: - Computer Systems PLUS - There are various optional units available to choose from: Unit 7:- Organising Systems Security Unit 8:- E-Commerce Unit 30:- Digital Graphics Unit 31:- Computer Animation
5 A - C GCSE grades in different subjects, preferably with both English and Maths at grade C or above. Students must have studied an ICT qualification at Level 2.
How will I be learn? You will learn through a variety of techniques including: Observation, written reports, graphs and posters, self-study, role play, oral presentation, research, assignment and project work. How will I be assessed? ALL units of work are internally assessed, through a mixture of written and practical assignments set throughout the year which will be presented in a portfolio, assessed and graded by teachers. An overall grade for the qualification is awarded to all learners who successfully complete all units. Grades awarded are Level 3 at a Pass, Merit or Distinction BTEC IT qualification
Some learners may wish to gain the qualifications in order to enter a specialist area of employment in IT or to progress to a Degree programme.
