Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Competence (VCQ) / Principles (VRQ) Level 3 Diploma (Motor Mechanics) at Doncaster, Rotherham and District Motor Trades GTA Ltd (Doncaster GTA)

Course description

A Level 3 VRQ Apprenticeship qualification.  The main emphasis of the programme will be about developing the learners diagnostic skills in relation to vehicle system fault finding on the following systems.  Engine, transmissions, steering, brakes, suspension, electrics / electronics.

Entry requirements

Most applicants for this course will first have completed a Level 2 Apprenticeship.

Applicants should expect to obtain or have GCSE's at Grade D or above, in English, Mathematics, Technology and a Science. But more importantly they must want to pursue a career in the vehicle repair industry.

Financial information

The cost of the programme for learners aged 16 to 25 is usually met by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC).

Future opportunities

The course offers you a specialist work-based qualification to support a career in the motoring industry.  With further training, you could continue to develop your career in the motoring industry by working as a trained Mechanic, MOT Tester, Breakdown Recovery Assistant or to progress onto further education to study a VRQ Level 4 in supervisory management.

      This site now covers over 5 acres, having an impressive complex of eight workshops and associated classrooms, a Management Training and Business Studies unit.
