Music Technology Level 3 Extended Diploma at Doncaster College

Course description

‚ÄčThis two year course is ideal for musicians wishing to pursue a career in the technological aspects of the music industry. Learners will develop recording, production, composition and technical skills in addition to an analytical awareness of popular music.

Course content

The course is made up of practical and theory projects and workshops giving learners the opportunity to expand their horizons within the field of Music.

Assignments on the course vary in timescale and type depending on the nature of the project. 

Through the Extended Diploma, learners will develop a greater sense of independence and creativity extending, refining and developing their skills.

The Level 3 Diploma in Music Technology is an 18 unit qualification including the Level 3 Diploma (achieved in year one only).

Entry requirements

  • This course is only suitable for learners who have successfully completed a L3 Diploma in Music Technology as well as their allocated functional skills qualification.
  • A successful interview with the course leader will also be required.

Assessment

‚ÄčStudents are assessed by a variety of methods including written coursework, portfolios of evidence and practical assignments.

The assessments are to specific criteria and when successful are graded Pass, Merit or Distinction.

Future opportunities

Many students will progress on to degree level courses such as the BA (Hons) Creative Music Technology at University Centre Doncaster.

Employment opportunities are radio production, sound recording engineer, music publisher, music teacher, composer/arranger, live sound engineer
