Golf Academy BTEC at Easton & Otley College

Course description

The sports academy pathway allows students to combine study for an academic qualification alongside their personal development as sports performers. The programme comprises a number of support services to performers including:

  • Services of an appropriately qualified and experienced coach
  • Sports psychology
  • Access to injury prevention and rehabilitation services
  • Nutritional advice/guidance and support
  • Strength and conditioning training

A typical programme of study for a sports academy student would be as follows:

  • BTEC Level 2 or 3 qualification
  • A minimum of 4 hours coaching in your chosen sport
  • 1 hour strength and conditioning
  • Additional coaching or leadership qualifications

Course content

The Golf Academy is a one or two year programme designed to give talented and motivated young golfers the opportunity to develop their skills, fitness and knowledge while continuing in full-time education.

The Golf pathway is a partnership between Easton & Otley College and Bawburgh Golf Club. This pathway seeks to take talented young players and develop their skills to a higher level, with the aim of improving and reducing their handicap in order to embark on a career within the golf industry.

Participants will have the opportunity to achieve additional qualifications and gain work experience in a variety of golf careers. All golf facilities are situated close to the college which enables access outside of coach-led sessions.

The golf academy is open to all levels and all students will have opportunities to access coaching to help reach the required handicap.

In order to represent the academy in BCS and ICT fixtures, golf students need to be either a Category 1 or 2 handicap.

  • Category 1 - 5 & Under
  • Category 2 - 6 to 12
  • Category 3 - 13 to 18
  • Category 4 - 19 to 28

Entry requirements
