History GCSE at Christ The King College

Course description

In GCSE History you will look at Medicine through time. 

Another aspect is an Enquiry in Depth, looking at:
 the causes of the development of totalitarianism and its impact in Germany in the period 1919–1945.
 
The final aspect is a Local Study, which will be Carisbrooke Castle.

Course content

You will gain an overview of the main changes and trends in medicine and public health in Britain from the earliest times to the present.

The Enquiry in Depth will involve looking at: the causes of the development of totalitarianism and its impact in Germany in the period 1919–1945.

Finally the study of Carisbrooke Castle will allow you to reach judgements based on an analysis of the site to justify a line of argument. You will use sources within their historic context.

Assessment

A Linear course with an exam of 1 hour and 45 minutes on Medicine through Time, which makes up 35% of the final marks. An exam of 1 hour and 45 minutes on the Enquiry in Depth, that makes up 40% of the final marks. The Local Study is a controlled assessment, that will make up 25% of the final marks.

Future opportunities

A level History, Politics, Classics, RE, as well as Sociology, and may help in other Humanities work.
As with other Humanities subjects, the evaluation and analysis skills you develop may be used in a variety of careers.
