Mathematics - Further at King James's School

Course description

AS Further Mathematics, while previously seen as an elite qualification, is now a valuable addition for all those going on to degrees related to Mathematics (such as the Sciences, Engineering and so on). The course extends the topics covered in Mathematics AS and introduces key concepts that are applied in many different disciplines. The full Further Mathematics A level is an attractive qualification for those going on to degrees in Mathematics and subjects related to Mathematics at the best universities.

This course will suit the able student who enjoys Mathematics and wishes to understand it in more depth. Desirable qualities include initiative and independence of learning as the subjects covered are diverse. Mathematics has been described as ‘The Queen of the Sciences’ and has applications in many fields of learning.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at Grade C or above (or equivalent qualification)

An A or A* at GCSE and studying AS/A2 Mathematics.
