Mathematics AS / A2 Level at Farnham College

Course description

Do you enjoy the challenge of a mathematical problem? Are you interested in discovering new mathematical techniques? Just as important, have you achieved at least grade B in GCSE Maths? If so, why not take Mathematicss at AS or A Level?

You will study Pure and Applied Mathematics in both the first and second years and be assessed by written exam.

Varied learning methods include active learning and mathematical software packages, as well as investigation.

The course, whilst fairly demanding, is also very satisfying.

Remember that feeling of elation when you’ve just solved a complex problem?

This course is a popular choice at Farnham College as an AS or A Level in Mathematics is highly valued as an entry qualification for both Higher Education and employment.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade C or above, including Maths at grade B or above and English at grade C or above.



100% exam. Assessment is by three unit exams each year of equal weighting.


Future opportunities

Degrees in mathematics, science, engineering, economics, computing or statistics. Career opportunities are endless.
