Course description

Why should I study Sociology?

Sociology can be combined with a range of A-level courses and several ideas and concepts used in Sociology cross over with Psychology, History, English and Media Studies. The ideas used are challenging and will give a different way of looking at the modern world.

What skills can I gain from studying Sociology?

Sociology is the study of society. The world we live in is both strange and confusing, yet fascinating. The sociologist questions our everyday existence. For example: Are men adopting a new role within family life? Are more people motivated to commit crime? Can your social class determine your life chances? The aim of Sociology is to help provide answers to these fascinating questions.

What makes Sociology an exciting subject is that it helps us learn?

more about ourselves and the way we live our lives within the social system known as society. Sociology develops analytical and critical understanding of society through looking at key institutions such as the family and education.
