Course description

If you are interested in working in the construction industry but are not sure which specific trade area you would like to specialise in, then this course will provide you with the basic skills and knowledge required for various trades. This is a practical course which will allow you to learn and develop various skills relating to the trade.

Course content

If you are interested in working in the construction industry but are not sure which specific trade area you would like to specialise in, then this course will provide you with the basic skills and knowledge required for various trades. This is mainly a practical course which will allow you to learn and develop various skills relating to the trade.

Entry requirements

2 GCSE’s grade E-G, Entry level 3, or another relevant Entry Level qualification. You will have a pre-induction interview/assessment to make sure that this is the correct level of course for you.

Assessment

Each individual unit has a practical and written assessment task and these have to be achieved to the awarding body’s standards and requirements.

Future opportunities

On successful completion of this course you will achieve a City & Guilds qualification and this will allow you to progress onto a City & Guilds qualification within a specific trade, where you will gain an industry recognised certificate showing that you are ready to be considered for an apprenticeship in the workplace.

Further information

You will be required to supply a High Visibility vest, Steel toe-capped safety boots and overalls or change of clothing for all practical lessons. You will also require a pen, pencil and notebook for theory lessons. Maths and English are compulsory and you will be required to attend at least 1.5 hrs per week of each.
