Geography A Level at The Hazeley Academy

Course description

You will gain an understanding of the forces influencing our natural environment (landscapes, weather and climate); the issues affecting people and the places where they live, how and why cities and the countryside are changing; how people are affecting the environment; the economic forces that drive the world economy; the decisions being made about the use and management of resources; an appreciation of current events and world problems such as the effects of natural hazards and the plight of refugees; as well as an understanding of how to plan a fieldwork investigation.

Students will be assessed via exams and coursework. To complete the coursework all students are required to complete compulsory fieldwork.

 

 

Entry requirements

Students should have a minimum grade of a B in GCSE Geography.

Assessment

This is a two year A Level course with all public examinations at the end of year 13.

Future opportunities

Students with Advanced Level GCE Geography have access to a wide range of possible career and higher education opportunities. You learn and use a variety of transferable skills throughout the course. These include collecting, analysing and interpreting data, communicating your findings in different ways, and identifying and developing the links between different parts of the subject. These skills are in great demand and are recognised by employers and universities and colleges as being of great value.
