AS - Biology at Chase Terrace Technology College

Course description

Humans are an influential part of this extraordinary planet. Understanding some of its many systems, cycles and complexities as well as our effect, both positive and negative, upon it is a valuable and interesting experience. Completion of either the AS or A2 course in Biology gives you opportunities in a myriad of areas for further study and career advancement. Following the AQA Biology syllabus you will study 2 units per year as well as completing coursework assignments. The choice of the AQA exam board ensures continuity with your GCSE Science.

Entry requirements

Achieved grade BB or higher at GCSE Double Science or minimum grade C in Biology from single science with at least CC in Physics and Chemistry. Have a high level of mathematical competence, B grade or better ideally.

Future opportunities

You could take this course to complement other advanced level courses that may overlap with Biology or to prepare for the A2 part of an Advanced GCE in Biology, which could lead onto higher education in science related subjects or more general higher education courses. With further training, you could go into a job related to Biology such as a Doctor, Nurse, Science Technician or Marine Biologist. You could also go straight into a job as the AS GCE is a recognised qualification that will help you to develop the basic skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers across lots of industries are looking for.
