Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair - Level 1 at North Kent College

Course description

This programme drives students through the basics of the motor vehicle, the components and how they operate together. It gives a thorough grounding and is aimed at those learners who wish to have a year of education and training before going into an apprenticeship or a Level 2 training programme.

Course content

A competence-based scheme, with some examinations, covering all aspects of the repair and servicing of road vehicles.Units include:Health and Safety, The Vehicle Systems and Dismantling, Auto Electrics, Functional Skills within Industrial Studies

Entry requirements

Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair - Entry Level or 4 GCSE's grade D or above (Preferred English, Mathematics and Science and ICT)

Assessment

By practical tests to illustrate competence and by multi-choice examination questions to demonstrate underpinning knowledge. A portfolio of evidence is also needed which requires written statements of support knowledge.
