AS and A2 Level General Studies at William Farr CofE Comprehensive School

Course description

General Studies is an important course of study.

The course is designed to increase students’ awareness of human knowledge, understanding and behaviour. To help them to think critically, logically and constructively about significant problems. To develop a critical awareness and understanding of contemporary issues and to help them to communicate with coherence and clarity.

Although General Studies is not accepted by some Universities as contributing towards their points tariff it has proved many times over to be valuable to students who fail to meet their target grades and need to negotiate with Universities. It is a compulsory subject.

Students will study for 1 hour per week throughout the 2 years taught by a team of teachers.
