Arboriculture and Forestry Diploma Level 2 at Capel Manor College
This practical and hands-on course will give you the knowledge and understanding required for a career in arboriculture or forestry. Topics include: chainsaw maintenance, tree felling, tree identification, tree climbing and machinery use. You will also complete 150 hours of industry work experience.
This qualification will be particularly useful if you want to be employed as a practical worker within the arboriculture industry.
You will need at least one of the following:
- at least 3 GCSEs at grades D or above
- an overall Distinction in a Foundation in Land-based Studies (Level 1) or equivalent
- relevant prior learning or experience gained in an appropriate professional environment will be considered
- a real interest in the chosen subject
- you will be encouraged to attend our Summer School.
You will be asked to attend an interview to explore your interests, experience and ambitions and complete an initial assessment so that we can help you study. References are also considered.
We want all of our students to maximise their personal development and prospects for employment or further study. While on your course you will continue to build skills relevant to work and study on our Skills Development programmes, which may include English, maths or computer skills.
Successful completion of this course will enable you to progress to an Arboriculture and Forestry Advanced Diploma (Level 3), Advanced Apprenticeship in Trees and Timber (Level 3) or entry into the industry as a tree surgeon or other forestry work.
