GCSE German at Cockermouth School

Course description

The course aims not only to encourage pupils to develop their knowledge and understanding of the language, but also to develop positive attitudes to language learning and other communities and cultures. The course content covers four themes: Lifestyle, Leisure, Home and Environment, Work and Education. Within these schemes are clearly defined topics: Health, Relationships and Choices, Free Time and the Media, Holidays, Home and Local Area and Environment, School and Future plans and Current and Future Jobs Pupils will cover four skills - Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.

Entry requirements

An interest in German. The course builds on Key Stage 3 skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.

Future opportunities

Knowledge of a foreign language is invaluable. Language skills can bring opportunities to work in an increasingly global market place. Teaching, Translating, Business, Marketing and Tourism
