This qualification that has been specifically designed to enable you to learn both aspects of hairdressing and media make-up.

This qualification will provide you with all the skills and techniques to enable you to; provide effective client care, apply make-up or photographic make-up, develop the creative art of dressing hair and encourage individual creativity using both hairdressing and media make-up skills.

The purpose of this qualification is to develop your skills in both hairdressing and media make-up to a high level of occupational ability, to enable you to perform your own salon services.

Progressing to the Diploma in Hair and Medial Make-Up at Level 3 will build enhance your technical knowledge and enable you to expand your range of technical skills in preparation for employment as a beauty therapist specialising in make-up.

Entry requirements

3 GCSEs at grade C or above OR First Certificate at merit OR Introductory Diploma OR relevant Foundation qualification.

Assessment

The course is assessed using a variety of methods including observation of practical work in the workplace, written assignments, written test papers and externally set assessments. Students will produce a portfolio of evidence to support the assessments.

The Beauty and Related industry is worth over £5 billion, it has 15,000 employers and over 200,000 full and part time jobs. On successful completion of the qualification a learner can progress to or within employment and/or continue their study to HND in the same, or related vocational area.
