Digital Design and Motion Graphics: Extended Diploma - Level 3 (Full-Time) at Newcastle College
This is a course for creative designers who want to develop foundation skills in design while learning a range of digital skills that span across a range of digital industries.
This specialist course will help you develop your skills in digial design, motion graphics, web design social media and the digital graphic design discipline. We cover software such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe After effects.
Diplomas are an alternate route into higher education or employment and boast a strong industry focus.

Your course also includes GCSE or Functional Skills as appropriate in English and/or Mathematics. Possessing these skills will help you to progress in education, training and employment and make a positive contribution to the community in which you live and work.
As well as GCSE & Functional Skills being embedded into all aspects of your course, you will receive a dedicated lesson to enable you to develop your skills in the relevant subject area.
You must have completed your compulsory school education and should have achieved at least one of the following:
- • A minimum of 5 GCSE’s A-C including Maths and English
- • A BTEC First Diploma in Art and Design
- • An Intermediate GNVQ in Art
- • An alternative equivalent qualification at the appropriate level
You will also need to attend an interview with vocational tutors to assess your suitability and potential for the course. You will be asked to bring a protolio of work.
Mature applicants (aged over 21 years) without formal qualifications but without appropriate relevant vocational experience are also welcome to apply.
If English is not your first language, you will also need a minimum IELTS score of 5.5 or higher
You will put together a portfolio of work, evidencing the units of the qualification, which is internally assessed and externally moderated as the course progresses.
You could continue your studies by progressing to a Degree, Foundation Degree or Higher National Diploma in Digital Design, Graphics and Motion Graphics based subject areas.
