You will need at least 54 GSEs at grade 9-4 (A*-C). You will normally need at least a grade 4/C in English Language and Maths. Non-GCSE qualifications like BTEC Level 2 in a related area can count towards this total, but we will also look at your overall academic profile.
The course contains a lot of written work so you will need to be able to demonstrate confidence in writing through a Grade 4/C in English Language or a related subject. An abilitiy to work with figures will be useful as elements of the course cover mathematical and accounting theory and practice.
Assessment is carried out by a series of external examination and internal assignments which are marked by your teachers. Assessment methods throughout the course will include reports, case studies, examinations, controlled assessment, presentations and practical assessments.
Everything you must have to undertake the course will be provided by college. You may have to pay for extras such as trips/visits.
A variety of options are available to you following study of business. The skills and knowledge developed by the course would be useful for progression to management training courses in banking, other financial institutions and retailing. If you want to go on to higher education there are degree courses available in business studies, marking and accounting.
