Engineering (Marine) City & Guilds Advanced Diploma Level 3 at Fareham College

Course description

Building on the knowledge gained from the level 2 qualification, this course provides further practical skills and experience skills required to progress to an apprenticeship or further study (e.g. Higher National Certificate / Diploma or an engineering degree).

Entry requirements

  • Certificate in Marine Engineering or an equivalent Level 2 technical qualification or 5 GCSEs at grade C or above including English, Mathematics and Science.


Assessment is largely by coursework and exams.

Financial information

Students will be required to purchase and wear overalls, steel toe cap safety shoes and safety glasses. A list of professional clothing will be supplied at your application interview.

Future opportunities

Students can progress into employment or on to an apprenticeship within the leisure or deep sea marine sector. Those looking to continue their marine education can progress on through a partnership to Warsash Marine Academy where they can study up to HND level.

Candidates who have secured sponsorship with an employer can carry out a sea phase of training before returning ashore to complete a HND in marine engineering.

    • All Automotive, Engineering and Manufacturing courses run by Fareham College are conducted at our Centre of Excellence in Engineering, Manufacturing and Advanced Skills Training, or CEMAST, campus on the Daedalus airfield in Lee-on-the-Solent.

      The site is the central training facility for over 900 Full Time and Part Time Students, and acts as the main learning centre for students in apprenticeship programmes with our partner companies – BAE Systems, GE Aviation, Virgin Atlantic, Coopervision, Burgess Marine, Jensen Motorsport to mention but a few.

      CEMAST offers future students a choice of career first and course second. Our focus is to provide all of the knowledge that any Student will need to enter their chosen field and effectively prepare them for work and/or higher study.
