AS Level
This comprises two units of assessment:-
1. Global Challenges (60%)
Two compulsory topics:
 World at Risk
 Going Global

2. Geographical Investigation (40%)
Choose two topics from four:
 Extreme weather or Crowded Coasts
 Unequal Spaces or Rebranding Places

A2 Level
This comprises two further units of assessment:-
1. Contested Planet (60%)
Six compulsory topics:
 Energy Security
 Water Conflicts
 Biodiversity Under Threat
 Superpower Geographies
 Bridging the Development Gap
 The Technology Fix?
2. Geographical Research (40%)
Choose one topic from six:
 Tectonic Activity and Hazards
 Cold Environments
 Life on the Margins: the food supply problem
 The world of Cultural Diversity
 Pollution and Human Health at Risk
 Consuming the Rural Landscape

Entry requirements

It is not necessary for students to have studied Geography at GCSE level. However, it would be an advantage as the GCSE course and AS are very compatible. There will be some statistical work in modules and some ability in Maths would be beneficial.
